About Deer Park Texas

The city of Deer Park TX is known as “the birthplace of Texas” because its founder Simeon Henry West was one of the state’s most aggressive pioneers. The original farming and fruit producing settlement was wiped out by a flood in 1900, but the addition of a major oil refinery brought new life in 1928. Today, Deer Park has approximately 9,000 homes and more than 30,000 residents. Deer Park is one of 15 Harris County communities in The San Jacinto Texas Historic District along the trail leading to the San Jacinto Battlefield where Sam Houston won Texas independence from Mexico.
